Vermont 2010-2022
The landscape in Vermont is central to my sense of place and it is part of my larger identity. It is now threatened by climate change, encroaching development, and difficult economic realities for farms. I hope to express in painting this everyday beauty, to treasure and guard it and not allow it to slip away through carelessness or greed. The work has evolved to be a kind of record of the northern landscape with its challenges of temperature and climate, and also its rewards of extraordinary beauty. This beauty inspires endurance, work, and even prosperity.
