Grids 1985-1999
Grid Paintings 1990 – 2000
The formal structure of a grid has been used by quilt makers for at least 300 years. I was intrigued by the pattern and colors of patchwork quilts, and borrowed the concept to make large canvas paintings that originally hung from a bar, but later were put on a stretcher for exhibition in public spaces. Some of them related to the Northern landscape, while others were abstract expressions of color and movement.
